Just wanted to share with others this addition I made on Spinns' Rainbow Valley map. It flows super well either on hardcore or regular settings, it just takes a little time to lock the aiming down to do the course in one run but once you've gotten used to it, it's pretty fun to ride.

I tried to update the colors and the configuration so the map is not overcrowded with the vert installation. I also added a halfpipe w/ middle spine on a rooftop and a rainbow rail & cement block behind the first landing on the "plaza". Added a clean landing spot and decorated everything so it looks cleaner.

This map was already amazing but I felt the center portion had the potential to subtly be a part of a big air course.

This requires the XL object dropper mod, which is available to download here.

Just create a folder in the Skater XL/XLObjectDropper/Saves and name it Rainbow Valley, then in that folder, drop the downloaded file. When you open the game, you'll have to go in the object dropper from the start menu, then press select and "load". You click on the file and the objects will load.

I did not create this map, credits again go to Spinns.
Download Rainbow Valley here.

Have fun!

Hey buddy, as someone who has added Object Dropper maps to Modio, i feel like you haven't added quite enough objects for an upload. As someone who has received a lot of criticism for uploading object dropper maps, I'd rather just give constructive advice. It is cool what you have added here, but honestly i feel like you should get a little more creative and do more with it before you upload your map. Also it would a lot more fun to skate if the roll in had a flat run up to it, so you arent just starting on the down part, and it would be better if the megaramp actually went somewhere instead of just randomly ending. And don't get down on yourself if you get a lot of hate from people, because it is inevitable if you upload an object dropper map lol. People on here hate it for some reason.

And yes I definetly wanna add ending at some point, but I left it open for now because you can skate the ending backwards and drop into the bowl, so i thought that was fun. If I find a way to keep that open and make a more finished ending to the course, i'll def update it

Hey man, the platform was there but for some reason the object dissapears every time there's no way for it to be saved with the rest. I changed the platform type object and this one stays when you save, so that's already fixed!
For your comment concerning the object dropper maps, i see what you mean but really i don't think you should care if people get angry at you when you're trying to share something. I uploaded this here because someone added an object dropper update for Easy Day high school and i've been having so much fun with it and I'm grateful for this mod since we can all share our versions of existing maps. I feel like this adds a fun thing to do in this map and just wanted to offer the opportunity to others to play it too. So thanks for warning me about the potential hate but Skater XL is just how I blow off steam after work, I don't take it super seriously as some visibly do, so I don't really mind if people come here to talk ****, I'm just sharing the bread with my fellow XL enthusiasts. Cheers!

Oh **** good work on that map man i've been having so much fun with it. I understand that you might me somewhat offended by this "addition" of mine since yours probably took a good damn while. But really, i'm just dropping it here for the sake of sharing, but i'll make sure to improve it and maybe add more stuff to the run whenever i can. Love

Thanks buddy glad you are having fun with that map! No, I'm not offended haha. And yeah I put a ton of time into it, and it's awesome to share it with other ppl so I'm glad I decided to post it. Good luck with your map building and keep it up!

The reason people hate it is because it gets their hope up that an (actual) new map dropped and instead find just a rendition built on top of someone’s map that already was great and didn’t need anything added to it. Not saying people shouldn’t make OD maps but anyone who plays this game modded can do it themselves and would rather have a unique original map than something filled with copy/pasted assists.

Amen.

Maybe they should just add a section for object dropper maps to keep it separate?

Question thought - If it's a quality map, does it really matter if it was made from scratch, or if someone used preprogrammed obstacles? I see a lot of really lazily made original maps on here where the same objects are just copy and pasted and get boring after 1 min or are just plain un-skatable, and I've seen object dropper maps that are way more creative and fun to skate than certain legit maps. Not saying there isn't something really special about a new original map, because i personally prefer that to obj dropper maps. I'm just saying that a quality-built map is a quality-built map no matter the technique you used to make it.

No, I (personally) don’t think it matters if it’s a quality map at all, a good map is a good map. I was just trying to shed some light on why they are probably looked down upon consistently. There is plenty of creativity that goes into OD. I think seanskully’s idea is perfect. Just have it in a separate channel and the issue would be solved.

I agree with that. I think an extra section is a good idea for just organizational and convenience purposes.

Let me know if you want me to try and add or correct some stuff! Anyways, if you have the mod, you can customize it as you like.
Cheers!
